2nd Tri-- Better Time- that is all I wanted!

I did it-- 2 down and more Tri's to come. On Saturday July 26th, Wendy and I did our 2nd Triathlon. It was so much fun. We both beat our times from the 1st Tri. That was our goal. I still have anxiety in the water but it was MUCH better than the 1st time. Lacey and Amy did it too and they did SOOO great! Of course my very supportive husband had all our kids and Wendy's kids waiting at the finish line!! (Best husband in the world!)
I am so thankful for my health and my beautiful family to enjoy it with. MaKenna and Raegan are training for their 1st KID TRIATHLON in September. I will keep you updated.

VACATION... ALL I EVER WANTED!

We decided to run away for a couple of days and take the kids up to Oklahoma. We went to Lake Murray, Turner Falls and Arbuckle Wilderness. It was so beautiful and kind of hard to believe that these little mountains were only 1 1/2hours away. I was training for my second tri so we drug the bikes and the kids up there. We had a blast! Just makin' memories.

Time flys-- doesn't it? My sweet little boy (nicknamed Monkey or spiderman- for his wall scaling ability) is 2 years old. We had a little family party at Aunt Wendy's pool. SO MUCH FUN! THANKS AUNT WENDY!

I am learning so much about blogging--thanks to Karen & Rach! :) A SLIDE SHOW EVEN! It is kind of fun once you get started. I will try to update mine every time I can. Our New Doggie Named Milo

We have a new addition to our family, he is the sweetest dog we have ever met. We love him so much already. He is just perfect, he is great with the kids (WONDERFUL!), so sweet, loving, patient and very helpful. He lets us know when Easton is awake in his bed, when Ella is asleep and he goes everywhere we go. We haven't left him home by himself at all. We have been to the dog park, on 2 different 3 mile jogs, to the pool, Aunt Wendy & Scotts house, the shooting range to play in the ponds and chase the other labs and just to run errands. He loves to ride in the car. He has family prayer with us at night and Easton and Ella want to teach him how to fold his arms and close his eyes:):)
Ella asks me every 10 mins if we are keeping Milo forever. She loves him so much. He sits really still for her so that she can brush him every morning and every night for 30 mins.
He is a wonderful addition to our family.

Scott and I just celebrated our 7th Anniversary. He is the love of my life. For those of you who know us really well- you know we were made for each other. We are enjoying this stage in our life so much. Our kids are great, we are all healthy-- this is what the Lord meant when he says HAVE JOY!!
MaKenna is at Girls Camp. We miss her sooooo much. She is such a joy and I am so grateful that I get to share my time here with her. Ella and Easton miss their sister soooo much too.
Work is good, life is good-- we are busy and full of fun!
I went to a baby shower and got to catch up with some old friends and it was so fun. Steph --we love you and will miss you all so much! Arizona is a great vacation place-- we will see you soon! Can't wait to see Dave with a Baby Girl!

Don't mind Ella's little sunburn on her nose, she said if Milo doesn't wear sunscreen on his face then she shouldn't either. Aghhhh the joys of motherhood! :)

So we lived through it and it was SOOOOO GREAT! I loved it and can't wait to do another. I was so nervous the day before but that day of we were just excited and anxious. The pool was the hardest part but it was over pretty fast. The ride and the run went by fast too but I just enjoyed the experience. My goal was to finish and not be last. (I completed both) :)

Coming into the last quarter mile and seeing all my family, kids, husband, nieces, nephews and Friends made every second of training worth it! And the finish line-- what can I say-- what a moment in time!! I am so glad I did it. It was well worth it and I will do it again! Cancer last year and a Triathlon this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny Story:
Only my friends are privileged to this info...
Saturday, Char and I decide to go for a ride. We were on the road out in Argyle and it was beautiful. Just cruising around about 35W and 407-- Char gets a flat tire. So we stop at the local (hood) gas station. I told her I would go and get the car and bring the car back to her. As I headed off back to 407 and 1830 in Bartonville-- Char said "I think I came from the other way," I knew my Michiganders friend was probably confused so I headed off to get the car. About 9 miles into the ride (I was dying by this time) I thought "man we had come out a long way", about that time I looked up and the sign said "Fort Worth City Limits". I wanted to cry but I was laughing to hard. If you can't laugh at yourself then...
I headed back to the gas station and I will never forget the look on Char's face when I came up over the hill from the WRONG direction (on my bike--not in the car). by this time I was really tired so i told Char we would find someone to take us back to the car (not our husbands because we would have to swallow our pride) :):) We found a Flower Mound police officer, so he gave me a "courtesy ride" back to the car. As I pulled away in the back of the cop car I thought "WHAT ARE WE DOING".
Finally we got to the car and headed to the bike shop to get Char's tire fixed. the guy at the shop was so nice and showed us how to change our own tires on the road. Don't worry we now have the equipment we need. Scott said we need a GPS system on my bike and Char's husband told us we should probably "stick to Speed walking". :):) Very funny Brian.
Ahh the joys!! That was fun.

Tri training is going good. I love the cycling and the weather is so great! I really wish we didn't have to run, maybe I will just stay on my bike and ride past everyone. :):) I am pretty sure that is against the rules. We are definitely on the countdown and it is getting scary! I had strep throat and that was about a 5 day set back, but we are back on the road again.

Ok so the swimming was really scary, I thought I was going to drown. Turns out -- I love the swimming! That is what I love about this training, as soon as you master 1 sport, it is time to start training for another.
As far as the riding, I have been riding inside on the indoor cycle mostly due to the weather here. I got a new bike and the 1st day we went out to ride (Char & I), we rode about 8 miles. It was great! I loved it! Char did not like it so much because she took her mountain bike, this makes the ride a lot harder. Clint took me & Char out for a ride on Saturday and we rode out by 407 (behind the Bartonville store), it was such beautiful God's country, i had a blast. Anyone who wants to join us or take us on a ride-- we are GAME!
The family is taking a little vacation to Galveston this week, so my training schedule will deviate to running and biking on the beach and swimming in the hotel pool. I will keep you updated! TIF- if you are reading this - you better get training - we only have 6 weeks! :)

Here we are -- let's see I know of 3 of the coaches that are doing the Tri with us. Mandy Goff (not in picture) and Char Stewart. Chels will be there to cheer us on! (she will get better and join us next year) No backing out now ladies!

TRAINING BEGINS!! 1-23-08

OK everyone- I have been training for the run part of the Tri for a couple of months now. The hardest part for me was the running, but now that I have the run down. I am feeling a little better. This week I will tackle some biking and the SCARY swimming. I just keep telling myself-- I am a great and strong swimmer. :) We will see if my positive affirmations come true. For those who are following food advice along with me. LOTS of protein and good healthy fruits and veggies. My new favorite protein snack is pistachios. Yummy! As i say to my boot campers... don't work this hard and put CRAP in your body! The truth hurts sometimes but we keep running, swimming and cycling forward until April 26th!..
13 weeks until race day!
Today I did strength training in the morning - ran 45 mins - and did yoga.

Here is a great 8 week training schedule to get ready for this is the one I am using for the next 8 weeks. The only thing I changed is adding 2 hours of yoga week. It makes a huge difference in the way that you feel!

Ok. I have never done this, but we will see if I can figure it out. We went to Sea World for New Years and we had a blast. The kids loved it. We took MaKenna's Friend, Diana with us. She is a sweet addition to our family. Ella loved the roller coasters and Easton liked touching the dolphins. Mommy liked that Lindsay and Evan went with us to help out! We went to the River Walk and Ella said she wants to move into the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. She overheard some french people talking and she asked them why they kept saying , "wi-wi"?? It was pretty funny. Tune in-- we are pretty boring but you never know what crazy thing is happening in our family.
